Renée Foy (writer/director) is a Taiwanese-Canadian filmmaker from Toronto, Canada, who has recently received her BFA in Film Studies from the Toronto Metropolitan University.
The style of her work puts an experimental twist on the slice of life format. Through film she aims to delve deep into the human experience, shedding light on the complexities of our past, the fleeting nature of time, and the profound impact that our familial relationships have on shaping our identities.
During her studies she produced thesis film Tantrum and received the Best Production award from the committee of industry professionals on the jury for the Toronto Metropolitan University Film Festival (previously known as RUFF). Tantrum has since been showcased at various film festivals, including the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, Alameda International Film Festival, and Seattle Asian Film Festival, where Tantrum won the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Short.
